Ensuring Pharma / CRO relationship is fit for strategic alliance
A Pharmaceutical company (Pharma) chose a clinical research organisation (CRO) with whom they wish to build a value-adding alliance. Both parties were eager to learn from the relationship that pre-dated this potential alliance.
Learning from experience to date
Utilising GBPA’s Relationship Healthcheck, GBPA assessed the effectiveness of the relationship with the CRO on existing clinical trials. The Pharma and CRO were able to identify areas of relational best practice and agree areas for improvement, and establish alliance best practice for all other parts of the Pharma undertaking clinical trials with this CRO.
In addition, our team guided the leadership of both organisations in agreeing the overriding and motivating purpose for the relationship. As a result, the parties have agreed to transform the way they develop best in class medicines so as to more quickly be able to enhance patients' quality of life. They believe this will attract the best talent in the industry to work with them on this mission.
Creating the momentum for alliance success
Through ensuring understanding of what it takes to work in a partnering relationship, rather than in a transactional customer-supplier relationship, the key individuals are equipped to progress together on what they recognise is a journey on which they each need to play a part.
Across the critical professional and functional areas (eg relationship management, medical practitioners, procurement, project management) the leading individuals are building relationships, and exploring each organisation's approaches and processes to identify how best to integrate and work together.
